Letter From Jaimie

Dear Friends,

I wanted to let you all know how grateful I am for the enormous show of love and support you've shown my family and me during this difficult time. I also know that many of you continue to have a lot of questions about the accident, and about how we've all been faring since then. Questions about the accident have been the hardest for me to bear, much less to answer: I remember nothing of it, so there is little to say except for the fact that it happened, and that it changed all our lives in ways that will take a long time to understand.

Natasha is doing well, fully recovered from her broken arm and happy to have her mommy home with her. She misses Marek, as we all do, and grieves his loss in her own way. I am on the road to recovery too, although it is proving to be a longer road than I'd like. I'm doing a lot of physical therapy, getting stronger every day, and fully intend to be teaching yoga again this fall and returning to Mexico for our retreat in the winter. That said, I won't be able to bear weight for several more weeks, and still can't manage stairs. We continue to be happy and grateful that Mona and Diana have given us a room on the ground floor of their home. They are angels in every sense.

Ahbi, my niece, is another of my angels, as are Liza and Emmanuele. They continue to step up to the enormous responsibility of running the store with incredible grace and courage. One thing that makes their job all the more difficult is the number of inquiries they have to field about the accident and about how we're all doing. I know these questions come out of genuine love and concern, but I also know that no amount of questioning can begin to quell the grief and powerlessness we all feel at the loss of Marek. There will be a memorial service for him on October 9th at 8:30am at the Amphitheater at the National Seashore Visitor Center on Race Point Road.

Many of you have asked if there's anything you might do to help me right now, and there is: light a candle. Pray. If you have questions, close your eyes and ask Marek. He's the one with all the answers now.

With love and gratitude,

Jamie
